Mint Julep

Mint Julep

Sophomore year we had a design project centered around package design. We had to invent a random beverage then brand and design the packaging for it. Most people in my class hadn’t even heard of Mint Juleps so I decided that a bottled/canned version of the Churchill Downs staple would be something cool to work on.

Icon

I knew a couple things right off the bat. First, the main colors I wanted to use were green, white, and brown. Next I wanted to incorporate Kentucky into the logo somehow—whether that be the silhouette of the state or the state name itself. And finally, I knew the main logo needed to be a mint leaf.

Packaging

I went for a more simplistic approach for the can; all white and light gray, with the leaf/Kentucky/horse riding icons on the can along with the brand name.
